New Dick Booth Jumps Camp to kick off this summer
PHOENIX, Ariz. (May 19, 2011) – In another step toward expanding into all disciplines of track and field, John Godina’s World Athletics Center will present the inaugural Dick Booth Jumps Camp, to be held on the campus of California State University, Sacramento, from June 27-July 1, 2011, Godina has announced. “The new Dick Booth Jumps Camp is part of our goal to be the best resource for athletes and coaches at all levels of the sport, in all events,” said Godina, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and four-time World Champion in the shot put, who founded the WAC after his retirement in 2009. “More importantly, by launching the first camp Dick Booth has ever conducted, we are also launching what we hope will be a long-term partnership with him to help bring his expertise to more athletes in the sport.” At the camp, athletes ages 13 and up will work with top collegiate, high school and Olympic-level coaches in an integrated and cohesive system of development in the long jump, triple jump and high jump. They will learn proper technique in drills, Olympic lifting, plyometrics and core and pillar strength-training, among other instruction. Booth, now an assistant track-and-field coach at the University of Florida, gained fame in his 27 years at the University of Arkansas. His coaching system has produced 137 All-Americans, 45 individual National Championship and 11 Olympians, including World Champion and two-time Olympic medalist triple jumper Mike Conley, two-time Olympic medalist Hollis Conway in the high jump, and 10-time NCAA Champion Erick Walder in the long jump. The Dick Booth Jumps Camp will be held at the same time and location as the John Godina Throws Camp. For more information, visit www.dickboothcamp.com or www.worldathleticscenter.com. More news
