Episode 3 of 7: Facilities and Ancillary Training
Thanks to a connection through team member Kyle Merber, The New Jersey New York Track Club recently moved their whole operation to do the majority of their training at The Master’s School- a private school for grades 5-12 in Dobbs Ferry, NY. The team has access to the school’s training facilities, including an outdoor track, pool, and weight room. The move has given them increased access to better training facilities and reduced the commute time for head coach Frank Gagliano. They also have access to the indoor track at the Armory, in Washington Heights, NY.
While the team doesn’t have a dedicated strength coach, they have a strength training plan created by Jim Radcliffe of the University of Oregon, who they bring in occasionally to instruct the athletes. Some of the team also does strength training at the Athlete’s Warehouse in Pleasantville, NY, where they can have more direct monitoring, working with Athlete’s Warehouse co-founder, Nicholas Serio.
Many of the team’s athletes live together in various houses in the Terrytown / Sleepy Hollow areas of New York, where they are able to live in a quieter environment than many of New York’s major metropolitan areas. They also have quick access to great places to run, including the Old Aqueduct Trail and Rockefeller State Park.
